- Standard posts are limited to 280 characters. X Premium subscribers get a much higher limit, but 280 remains the limit most people write for.
- How does the thread splitter work?
- Once your text goes over 280 characters, it's automatically split into a numbered thread, breaking on word boundaries so no word is cut in half, with each post labeled like (1/3).
- Does my text get uploaded anywhere?
- No. Counting and splitting happen entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server.
- Do links and emoji count differently?
- This tool counts raw characters. X itself shortens links to a fixed length and counts some emoji as two characters, so the in-app count may differ slightly from this one.
