FAQ
- Is my photo uploaded to a server?
- No. Metadata is read and removed entirely in your browser. Your photo is never uploaded anywhere.
- Why does this matter for privacy?
- Many phone cameras embed GPS coordinates, device model, and timestamps directly into photo files. Sharing an unedited photo online can reveal exactly where and when it was taken.
- What happens when I remove metadata?
- The image is redrawn onto a blank canvas and re-exported, which strips all EXIF, GPS, and XMP data. The visual content of the photo is unchanged.
- Does removing metadata reduce image quality?
- PNG images stay lossless. JPEG images are re-encoded at high quality (95%), which is visually indistinguishable from the original in almost all cases.
